Lunch at Madeline's. I totally kicked ass heading back up the South Hill. A great ride!

We finally did it! We road all the way out to the lake, went for a swim, then rode back. It was a long ride, but a lovely one. There is one big hill on Cheney/Spokane Road before the lake, but we all conquered it okay. The ride back up the South Hill was the real killer, as by that time, my legs were jelly. Still, tons of fun!

Amanda and Jillian volunteered with Summer Parkways, so we rode the course, then hung out all morning monitoring traffic on the course. Super sunny, super fun. Loves watching the jazzercisers. Looking forward to the next Summer Parkways event in August!

We rode downtown so Gordon could experience his first Hoopfest. He was suitably impressed. It was hard to move our bikes through the crowds, though. After watching some of his work buddies play, we split up. Captain Awesome headed off to work and I rode home--made it up the hill without having to shift into my easiest gear! : )

FBC!

That's right! We attended our first FBC Ride last week, in celebration of Leah's 25th birthday. We met up with the other Lifetime Members for Life at the Swamp around 8:40pm. After quickly downing a pitcher of beer, we we off! A group of over 100 hopped on thier bikes and rode through downtown. We paused at the fountain in Riverfront Park for a few laps, then headed out East on the Centennial Trail to Riverpoint. From there, we crossed a bridge and weaved our way through Gonzaga's campus and the surrounding residential area, stopping traffic as we went. Finally we arrived at Lintz's (a bar I'd never even heard of) for some more drinking and celebrating. After a round, Gordon and I headed home, only getting mildly lost. : )

On the ride home (in the rain, around midnight), I couldn't help thinking "I love Spokane, I love Spokane, I love Spokane..."

On Sunday we rode up to Cannon Hill Park, then on the the grocery store. Later that day we rode up to 17th again to go to the Morris' for a BBQ.

On Monday after work, we rode across the Monroe Street Bridge and up Monroe to REI. Stopped at the liquor store on the way home.

Bike to Work Week!

May 17th: Pancake Breakie in the park to celebrate the start of Bike to Work Week 2010. Jill and Gord biked down around 6:50am to enjoy pancakes, OJ, coffee, free water bottles, and talk about (what else?) whitewater.

Later Gordon biked down for still more pancakes with John Henry. Found the glove he lost on the first run! : )

We rode down and back--my first time riding around downtown on the streets. Thought it would be scary (and it was a little), but is was totally cool. Managed to injure myself on the way up the hill, caught my heel on the pedal and bled the whole way home. Not too bad, though. : )

We rode down through vinegar flats and crossed the pullman highway to meet up with goverment way. Followed that to Riverside and then crossed the pedestrian bridge in peoples park. Followed that up to boone and went to REI. I purchased new bike shoes to go with my new pedals :-)
